As I suspected, yesterday was a weird day.

I was fortunate to get a lift into the city with my chair, and shopping jeep and that was easy.

But, what was strange was the number of shops that had disappeared along the route.

I guess it’s not surprising given that we have spent so much time in lockdown over the last ten months.

I wonder what some of those retailers/restauranteurs are going to do with their lives now.

I wonder if they can get out of bed every day?

I wonder if they blame themselves?

When we got into the city, we found a spot next to our building, so the chair’s unloading and moving were easy.

But, of course, I got stuck in that little glass disabled lift, didn’t I?

Luckily there were two blokes not too far away who could come to my rescue.

I tell you, I felt like such a dill.

It gets worse.

You know the lifts that take us up to our floor? Well, I was dancing between the lifts because I couldn’t get to the open door fast enough pushing my chair and my shopping jeep before the door shut.

I’m so glad that I entertained that small group of onlookers!

I got there in the end though by shoving my shopping jeep into the entrance and then dragging the chair behind me.

I might be slow, but I figure it out in the end – hahahaha!

I spent a few hours in the office, and it was oddly quiet.

Pre-COVID, I was usually an early starter anyway, so I was used to a quiet hour before the majority of you started to come in.

But, yesterday it was just weird.

There was no-one else on the floor at all.

The cleaner came around doing her usual lunchtime patrol, and the man from the recycle paper bins went through as well.

It was his first day in the building since March 2020 too!

I made sure that both knew that I was there. My head bobbed up like a meerkat as soon as I heard someone else – hahahaha.

I did what I had to do. Printed my last few payslips and emptied my desk.

It wasn’t until I took my access cards off my lanyard and put them in the drawer that I realised that I had left my laptop at home.

Yes, I was so organised that I forgot to put my laptop in my shopping jeep. I had everything else that needed returning but that.

It was waiting by the door when I got home, just where I had put it so I wouldn’t forget.

Now that I have ruined my highly organised reputation, is anyone going into the office soon? I have a laptop to return.
